Apple Card on Your Credit Report
In short: Apple Financing LLC is the Apple entity associated with Apple's consumer credit offerings, including Apple Card and instalment financing for Apple products. The underlying card and deposit products are provided by partner banks. Information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable can be disputed under the FCRA. Outcomes depend on what the furnisher can verify, and results vary.
Who Apple Card actually is
Who actually issues this credit
Apple Financing LLC is not a chartered bank. Apple's own disclosures state that Apple Card is issued and Savings accounts are provided by Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch, Member FDIC, and that Apple Cash services are provided by Green Dot Bank, Member FDIC. No FDIC certificate is asserted for Apple Financing because the charters belong to those banks.
What makes this creditor different
Apple's own disclosures split its financial products across two different banks — Apple Card and Savings at Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Apple Cash at Green Dot Bank — so a single Apple user can have obligations and deposits at two unrelated institutions through one phone. The CFPB recorded 5 credit-card complaints naming Apple Financing since January 2025, led by a disputed purchase on a statement (3).
How Apple Card appears on your credit report
Apple Card tradelines generally report under the issuing bank rather than under Apple, so a consumer scanning their report for the word 'Apple' may not find the account at all. Apple device instalment plans are also a separate obligation from the Apple Card revolving balance, and both can appear. Identify by open date and balance rather than by brand name.

Grounds to dispute a Apple Card entry
Each of these is a reason a Apple Card tradeline may be inaccurate or unverifiable. None of them assures removal — they are the angles worth checking on your own report.
- ◆Account reporting under Goldman Sachs Bank USA rather than the Apple Card brand
- ◆Device instalment plan and Apple Card revolving balance confused as one account
- ◆Balance not reflecting a reversed purchase or returned device
- ◆Account balance or credit limit reported incorrectly
- ◆Payment reported late when it was made inside the grace period
- ◆Date of first delinquency re-aged to extend how long it can report
- ◆Account still reporting as open after it was closed, or vice versa
- ◆Duplicate tradeline for the same account after an internal transfer
- ◆Account belongs to someone else with a similar name, or is the result of identity theft
Disputing an original creditor is not the same as disputing a collector
Apple Card is an original creditor — the institution whose name was on the account when it was opened. That matters for two reasons. First, the FDCPA, which governs debt collectors, generally does not apply to a creditor collecting its own debt in its own name, so the “debt validation” request that works against a collection agency is not the right tool here. Second, as the furnisher of the tradeline, Apple Card has direct obligations under FCRA §623 to investigate a dispute you send it and to correct or delete information it cannot verify as accurate.
Dispute with the bureaus — FCRA §611
File with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. They must generally investigate within 30 days and tell the furnisher. Free, and you can do it yourself.
Dispute with the furnisher — FCRA §623
Send Apple Card a direct written dispute. It must investigate and must not continue reporting information it knows is inaccurate. Keep copies and proof of delivery.
Apple Card questions, answered
Is Apple Card a bank?
No. Apple Financing LLC is not an FDIC-insured bank and holds no FDIC certificate. Apple's own disclosures state that Apple Card is issued by Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch, Member FDIC.
Why is Apple Card on my credit report?
If you hold an Apple Card or financed an Apple device over time, the account is furnished to the bureaus. The tradeline most often names the issuing bank, Goldman Sachs Bank USA, rather than Apple.
What do people complain to the CFPB about most with Apple Card?
Of the 5 credit-card complaints naming Apple Card in the CFPB's public database since January 2025, the largest category is "Problem with a purchase shown on your statement" at 3, followed by "Other features, terms, or problems" (1). Snapshot taken 2026-10-17. These are public statistics about the company, not a forecast for your account.
How do I dispute a Apple Card account?
Dispute with all three bureaus under FCRA §611 and with the furnisher under FCRA §623. With a partner-bank program, check your report for the same debt appearing twice — once under the program brand and once under the issuing bank — because that duplicate is a common and genuinely disputable error. Send it in writing and keep copies; results vary with what can be verified.

Crowned Credit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Card; company names are used only to identify the institution a consumer may see on a credit report. Crowned Credit does not promise any particular outcome; results vary by individual circumstances and by what a furnisher is able to verify. Accurate, verifiable information generally cannot be removed from a credit report. You have the right to dispute inaccurate information yourself, for free, directly with the credit bureaus and with the furnisher.
